Ingredients:

  • 600 g chicken breast fillet
  • 100 g green onions
  • 2 tbsp cane sugar
  • 20 g fresh ginger
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 1 shallot
  • 100 ml soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons of honey
  • 20 ml rice wine
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 3 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • Pinch of salt and pepper

Preparation:

  • Slice the chicken breast and place in a saucepan. Mix the soy sauce, rice wine, honey and a pinch of pepper to make a sauce. Cut the garlic, ginger and shallot into small cubes and add to the sauce and pour this over the meat. Simmer on low heat for 20-30 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, cut the spring onion. Sweat with the cane sugar in a pan and let it caramelize. Put the pan aside and let it cool down.
  • Take the meat out of the pot. Add the starch to the sauce with a dash of water, stir and bring to the boil briefly until the sauce has thickened. Then put the meat back in the saucepan, season and let it steep for a moment. After about 2 minutes, pour the meat and sauce into the lunch box and garnish with sesame seeds, sesame oil and spring onions.
  • Serve the chicken teriyaki with rice and stir-fried vegetables if you like.
